Today, we would like to give them the Step-Down Voltage Regulator LM2596which you can now order in our webshop.
A step-down buck converter or downward converter is a form of switching DC converter. The output voltage is always smaller than the input voltage.
The input voltage can be between 3V and 28V. The output voltage can be between 1.5V and 20V. The rated current is 2A (e.g. with additional cooling).
Important: the input voltage must always be at least 1.5 volts higher than the output voltage.
With the step-down controller we can, for example, operate an ESP-32 NodeMCU microcontroller, which requires 3.3V, with 2 18650 batteries, each supplying up to 3.7V.
In our design, the batteries deliver 7.0V. We connect them to the inputs of the LM2596 module. (Positive to IN+, Negative to IN-).
Now you can measure the output voltage with volt meters on the pins OUT+ and OUT- .
The desired voltage can now be set via a small metal screw.
After the desired voltage is set, we can simply connect the microcontroller. OUT+ to 3V3 and OUT- to GND.
We find: whoworks with microcontrollers should always have a pair LM2596 have to use.
